MARIA BRAVO-ESCOTO

ATTORNEY

Maria Bravo-Escoto is an attorney at Escoto Law, PLLC. Prior to joining Escoto Law, Maria worked with the Dallas County Public Defender’s Office Crimmigration Unit, a specialized unit where Maria assessed the immigration consequences of criminal convictions and fought to regain her clients’ freedom and protect them from deportation. Maria also worked with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), a leading national nonprofit organization based in San Francisco, California. Maria worked on a range of immigration public policy issues and helped implement laws authored and co-authored by the ILRC. During law school, Maria was heavily involved with her law school’s Immigrant Rights Clinic, where she represented clients before the U.S. Immigration Courts, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the U.S. District Courts. Maria’s representation focused on deportation defense, federal litigation related to immigration detention, and affirmative filings for survivors of crimes and abuse.

Maria is a proud immigrant who, as a DACA recipient, understands the struggles immigrants face on a day-to-day basis. Maria’s passion for immigration stems from her own personal struggles as an immigrant herself. Maria was born in Guanajuato, Mexico and as a DACA recipient had to work tirelessly to realize her dream of becoming an immigration attorney. Prior to law school, Maria became a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in order to make her dream of becoming an attorney possible. Maria graduated from Texas A&M School of Law with Magna Cum Laude honors and was elected to the Order of the Coif, a prestigious legal honor for students who graduated in the top ten percent of their graduating class.
